Unlike majority of the traditional private equity and other investment funds, Leap does not limit itself to sheer placement of its investor’s funds within the projects that are developed by sponsors. Leap is dedicated to developing its own unique opportunities or partners with sponsors on other opportunities, but in most cases, Leap acts as an operator of the developed projects. With their experience working in various parts of the world and different industries, Leap experts frequently find niche opportunities that then become the object of Leap investment. Leap experts thoroughly investigate the market, conduct in-depth due diligence on the opportunity, construct the investment financial model, and test out the projections against the market and numerous variables before bringing the investment for consideration to its Investment Committee. Upon approval, Leap proceeds to build an operating plan and the appropriate management team comprised of seasoned Leap experts, in-country veterans of the industry and innovative foreign professionals. Upon funding of the project, Leap management team becomes part of the project’s in-field hands-on operation. With strict hands-on control over operations and processes, Leap assures the best results for the investment.
Leap has been operating since the early 2000’s starting with investments in companies in the United States and Russia and expanding onto other parts of the world. Throughout its history, Leap has participated in projects in the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Peru, Colombia, Iraq and others.
The Fund’s direction has always been niche projects, whether in the developed world or emerging markets. Leap core competency has been seeking out and developing opportunities that carry inherent equity and value. As such, Leap has participated in a range of projects from founding and developing new entities to service a niche need in the market, investing in existing unique technologies and methodologies, to investing and entering to restructure distressed enterprises.
